Change where domains inputed go to from a windows file, where is this file??

Hi baiscally i read about a year ago an article explaining how you could change what sites where viewed when requested by changing some data a windows file. and I cant find the article, so does any one know of a file the windows that you can change what website you get when a domain is inputed, like say for instance i type www.google.com but what then appears is www.digg.com for example? if anyone is confused by the question and thinks they can help give me a beep and ill try to detail better the question.Change where domains inputed go to from a windows file, where is this file??
You need to alter the hosts file in C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC

Find the website of the IP you want to redirect to and create an entry in the host file for that domain.

Example:

127.0.0.1 www.google.com

You can use notepad to open the hosts fileChange where domains inputed go to from a windows file, where is this file??
I don't recommend playing around with this unless you REALLY know what you are doing. 127.0.0.1 is the number to tell a computer ';I mean yourself, computer'; and playing around with that could make it impossible to do anything internet-wise.

Of course, if putting one thing in and getting something else is happening to you, you may end up HAVING to do something with that file but first try spyware cleaning programs.
