How do I get a website ranked highly on google?

Some of you may remember me from a question I posted about a week ago. I have since changed the website and it now has a hotmail version, but it still does not rank on google, if anyone else has some pointers for me it would be greatly appreciated.

I'm trying to get the website http://interiorinspirationsbyjuliegelsey鈥?/a>

higher ranked on google, how is this possible? Is it all about creating links and such? How do I get a website ranked highly on google?
We attempted without much success in stating that:

1. Unless you have a branded domain name or slogan, and in your case, ';Interior Inspirations by Julie Gelsey'; is certainly not a major recognizable brand and it should therefore be removed in the %26lt;title%26gt; and replaced with the services you are providing. An improved %26lt;title%26gt; metatag would be ';Interior Architecture Designer, Custom Decorator - Manhattan Beach, Palos Verdes, Hermosa, etc.';

2. And as we have mentioned earlier, there is only a 15 word limitation in plural and compound variations in the %26lt;keywords%26gt; metatag. Unfortunately, your current entries are duplicative and repeated over and over again. This is spamdexing at its worst.

Your current %26lt;keywords%26gt; metatag appears as follows:

%26lt;meta name=';keywords'; content=';Interior Design Manhattan Beach, Interior Design Palos Verdes Estates, Interior Design South Bay, Interior Decorators Manhattan Beach, Interior Decorators Palos Verdes Estates, Interior Decorators South Bay, Tomaro Architecture, Raju Chhabria, Delphi Development Hermosa Beach, Ca, Manhattan Beach Interior Designers, Palos Verdes Estates Interiro Designers, Julie Gelsey Michigan State University, Tuscan Village Ranchos Palos Verdes, Ann Sacks Tile, Materials Marketing, 3001 The Strand Hermosa Beach, Interior Design Hermosa Beach, Interior Decorators Hermosa Beach, Julie, julie, juli, july, Gelsey, Gelsy, Gelsi, Gina, MacDaniel, McDaniel, Geena, Julie Gelsey, Gina McDaniels, UCLA, FIDER, F.I.D.E.R., interior inspirations, interiorinspirationsbyjuliegelsey, Interior Inspiriaation, Interior Inspirations, Interior Inspiration, Palos Verdes, Palo Verde, South Bay, Sout, Bay, Redondo Beach, Redondo, Manhattan Beach, Manattan, Hermosa Beach, Hermosa, Trump, Donald Trump, Italian Villa, Tile Work, Tile projects, Bath, Bathroom, Living Room, Luxurious, Easy, Interior Design, Archtiectural, Architecture, California, Julie, Gelsey, Nook, Furniture, Exclusive, Louie Tomaro, Chhabria, Chhabbria, University of Michigan, Principal Designer BS Michigan State University, MFA University of California Los Angeles Julie is the Principal Designer and owner of Interior Inspirations. Before starting Interior Inspirations in June of 1997, she worked for high end residential and commercial firms in Los Angeles as a Project Manager. With a fine arts background, Julie sees each project as an artistic challenge and implements the best design and function for each individual clients needs. She strongly believes that each client and project should recieve the best service and attempt by the staff of Interior Inspirations.';%26gt;

If you cut out your bio, remove unnecessary copy that does not state clearly what you are offering, the following entries do cut to the chase and show exactly who you are and what you are offering as follows:

%26lt;meta name=';keywords'; content=';Interior, Design, Decorators, Manhattan Beach, Palos Verdes Estates, South Bay, Tomaro Architecture, Raju Chhabria, Delphi Hermosa, Ann Sacks Tile';%26gt;

The following article will prove helpful to you in streamlining your SEO metatags in order to attract more Net traffic by higher search engine placement.

The most effective way to advertise on the Internet is

to first set up a website and publish its domain name

on major search directories such as Google.com,

Yahoo.com [at http://www.google.com/addurl/?...... and

MSN.com since 85% of Internet shoppers rely on these

search directories to provide them with goods and

services. In a sense, these search directories are a

very large Internet Yellow Pages.

Nevertheless, should your website or opening webpage

fail to contain ';generic'; keywords, then anyone using

such ';generic'; queries will not be able to discover

your website. Your domain name [URL] of your website,

in a sense, will be invisible, undiscoverable.

You may want to consider some simple algorithms which,

when observed and committed in designing of a website

with placement of various critical metatags that can

surely achieve a high search engine presence and

increase Internet traffic to your website. These

metatag strategies work well with published webpages

at Google and Yahoo.

Design: Should you create an extensive Flash-based

website, make sure to fill-in the property entries

such as the Title, Description and Keywords. Failing

to do so, leaves no hard HTML or ALT resource that can

be readily indexed by search robots. Also consider the

Internet audience and their incoming setup. For

example, if they are on analog/dialup, Flash webpages

take too long to load up and therefore analog users

will likely lose interest and discontinue entering the

Flash site. On the other hand, anyone on hi-speed DSL

lines, will welcome Flash pages which load quickly. So

before designing a pure Flash websitge, ask the simple

question, ';Who's my end user - is he on dialup or

DSL?'; And if you had to choose between these two users

for maximum marketability, then select analog users

since 80% of most resident users are still analog

Internet subscribers and pure HTML designed webpages

is best for them.

A non-Flash-based website which relies on hard text,

is far easier to be indexed by search robots. Limit

the use of stylized text saved as .gifs since as a

graphic, they are not indexable by search robots.

Avoid use of frames since any number of search robots

are unable to properly classify textual material.

Placement of Metatags:

A ranking or search order does take place with Google

and Yahoo and it begins with the ';Title'; metag which

should consist of no more than 60 characters separated

by commas. The ';Title'; should describe in generic terms, the goods and services, followed by a location from which the resource is located, i.e., city, state. The placement of a domain name which is not generic within the ';Title'; is not appropriate, unless your

domain name is a major recognizable brand name.

The second metatag is the ';Description'; which is

usually up to 41 words to form a complete paragraph which

best describes one's goods and services. It is not merely a list.

And the very last category - ';Keywords'; are also

somewhat limited to 15 words which can be plural

and compound in nature. Again, avoid multiple entries

which could be mistaken as ';spamdexed entries'; which

is defined as the loading, and submission of

repetitive words into a particular metatag category.

';Spamdexing'; when discovered on a webpage and reported

to Google's spamreport.com can result in the

elimination of your website from their search

directory.

Here's an example of a very highly-placed website on

Google.com: Begin with the very ';generic'; search query

';sandwiches downtown los angeles,'; taking note to not

abbreviate Los Angeles to ';LA'; and of course, leave

out the parentheses (';). It will bring up some 2.4

million+ search results. Check out where ';Nazos.net';

is ranked. It's on the SECOND FRONT [ranked 15]!

Again, Nazos.net's high web presence was achieved by

proper web design and placement of relevant metatags

according to Google's publication guidelines.

Put more description words in the site's meta tags. For example: design, decoration, etc.

Side note, you may want to consider a shorter URL as well.
First you have to register with google, go to their site and you will find information on how to do that. Also yes it does matter on how many sites link to yours. Also about keywords and some other factors. Who do you use for hosting? Email me for more help.
Have you built this yourself? And did you include the Meta tags in the html?

Try this site just to see what it comes up with. It should tell you if you need to change or add anything. If you don't have the Meta tags, that could be part of the problem.

Hi there

The best way to get listed on google is for google to find your site organically. When the google robots crawl the web they find and follow links, when these robots find a new site they mark it and it gets added to the google search engine within a couple of days.

The easiest way to get this to happen is to get some links from a high page rank website, such as squidoo and ezine articles (both page rank 6 i think). I know this is more work, but if you submit directly to google it can take upto 6 weeks for your website to be listed.

Look at your site design and add some relevant meta tags, create a couple of squidoo lenses about interior design, 1 on your self, one on your partner, put links in the lens back to your website. Also write articles on interior design, or perhaps a specific niche within interior design, such as bathroom interior design, or soft furnishings, etc. Put a link in your author resource box and link back to your website. Submit these articles to article directories such as ezine articles or go articles. Your article may be picked up by a blog and published all over the net, which will get you lots of inbound links.

Good luck with your site.

Martin.

Discover the 5 tools you must have to succeed in internet marketing

Some of this has been captured by others

I have had success with:

1) Putting keywords in the page name

2) Using META keywords

3) Using META description

4) Using ';H1'; tags

And of course as others have mentioned (the harder part) getting a QUANTITY of inbound links from other QUALITY sites.
Meta description stuff is alright, but you also need to build your linking with High Page Rank websites and directories.

These directories are Page Rank 5 and above. Remember, its NOT in the quantity of directories you submit your site to. Its in the QUALITY of directories you submit your link to.
